The Nudity of Witches and Albrecht Durer
Dr John Callow
7.15 for 7.30 pm start
£5.00
Tonight scholar John Callow takes an illustrated look at the nakedness of witches as portrayed in early modern art, focussing particularly on the work of Albrecht Durer, whose emblematic engraving of three witches symbolises so much for modern pagan witchcraft. Deconstructing and exploring ritual nudity and what it meant both then and now, John raises questions about the body and its ecstasies, its travels across time, space and magic. Discussion, questions and wine soiree follows. Please book early as we expect this event to sell out.

Heathenism: Archaeological Evidence
Stephen Pollington
7.15 for 7.30 start
£5.00
Steve Pollington is an Anglo-Saxonist who has received acclaim for his recent edition of herbal magical texts in the book Leechcraft. Since then he has turned his attention to archaeological evidence for early English magic and pagan religiosity. A much-loved speaker at Treadwell’s, we are delighted that Mr Pollington has agreed to return to share his latest research. A discussion and party follows the talk.
