Tribe of Avalon (formerly `Avalon in London’) is an open group, welcoming those of any path and at any level of experience, which meets to celebrate the energies of the ancient Goddesses of the British Isles and to learn more of their nature. Our work is based on the Wheel of Brigit-Ana, developed in Glastonbury, which continues to change and grow as we work with it and learn more about the Goddesses of our sacred land. The Wheel continues to change and grow as we work with it and is ever-evolving as we learn more about the Goddesses of our sacred land.

The group began at Samhain 2000 when some of the Priestesses of Avalon trained in Glastonbury but living in London at that time, decided that there should be a group holding ceremonies in London. Since then the group has become open to everyone and welcomes Pagans from any path and at any level of experience. It is a friendly group with a real community spirit so please contact me if you would like more information, or just come along to an event on the day.

We are currently holding Dark Moon rituals and a Goddess group monthly and celebrating each festival in the Wheel of the Year. We recently held a Full Moon camp in Epping Forest from 19th - 22nd August 2005 (with rituals). We have just started a ritual group, The Apple Pips, for children of all ages from October 2005.

Most of the events are at Stockwell studios, close to Stockwell tube station but give Jacqui a ring on 07711 515017 for further details, or e-mail her via: Avalon@pflondon.org

DATES for 2006

“The Wheel of the Year celebrations are no longer always held on Sundays but have moved to the "proper" days. We will be celebrating the Solstices and Equinoxes as close to the actual dates as we can and we will now be celebrating the cross-quarters on their lunar dates (Samhain and Imbolc at Dark/New Moon and Beltane and Lammas at Full  Moon), which are more in tune with the energies of the Avalon Wheel.

We will also be holding the Apple Pips Childrens' Group, probably quarterly, and there are plans for Full Moon drumming circles. The Goddess study group will also continue but I plan to have a chat with those who have been coming along this year to decide how we want to go on with it. Watch this space!..”  -Jacqui (2nd Dec’05).

Tribe of Avalon Autumn Equinox Gathering 2006
Banbha: Walking the Sacred Land

       Oh round Mother Earth
       Bringer into birth
Sweet Creatress of the night and day
       Bring your spirit through
       Rest our thoughts in you
Guide our feet in the natural way...
       (Seize the Day)

The Tribe of Avalon Autumn Equinox Gathering will be held on Saturday 23rd September 2006 in Greenwich Park, where we will walk the land and visit the many Goddess sites to be found there, including ancient burial mounds, the Mother Stone fountain, the Dianic Temple and the Snow Well, sacred to the Goddess Holda. In these sacred places we will make offerings, and perform simple ritual in honour of the tides of Autumn and of earth. If time allows we will also visit the deer enclosure and Maidenstone Hill, sacred to the Goddess Brigit.

During the walk we will acknowledge Banbha, the ancient Earth Goddess of our land, and pause to celebrate Her abundant nature with a fruit feast. Please bring fruit to share.

Please meet by the round benches just inside St Mary's Gate (at the end of King William Walk and close to the National Maritime Museum) at 1.30pm, for a 2pm start (directions below). This will be a gentle walk but there will be some hills.

Tribe of Avalon is an open group which welcomes those following any path or at any level of experience. We meet together to celebrate each festival in the Wheel of the Year and to connect to the Ancient Goddess of the British Isles.

We will be asking for a £3 (£1 unwaged) donation to cover costs.
